I built Downtempo 808 for myself. Every feature in it came from something I kept wanting to do while making music — half-time a sample, then pile rhythm manipulation and effects on top until it becomes something new.
At some point while I was building it, I stopped and thought: why not just give this away? When I was starting out I never had money for plugins, and free ones like DBlue Glitch among others really helped me explore new, cool stuff. So that’s what I’m doing. It’s free, and it stays free. Always. If anyone really likes it, I may release a deluxe upgraded version for like $5 or something in the future.
If you make something with it, I’d love to hear it. Reach out any time, email: downtempo@absynth808.com and I’ll check it out.
Stay Cool,
James
